Injectables for the face have been used in millions of procedures over the years, and that history matters. It means more research, more refinement, and a body of experience we can draw on when we talk with you about what fits your face.
The result is that you have more choices today than ever before. But more choices also mean more decisions, and this is exactly the point where it helps to have guidance as careful as any you would seek for a surgical procedure. Choosing the right injectable calls for the same skill you would want at any stage of your care, which is why it matters to have a board-certified plastic surgeon leading the practice.
Tried and True
Most non-surgical ways to soften wrinkles work in one of two ways: by relaxing the muscles beneath the skin, or by restoring volume to the skin itself. Which approach fits begins with where on your face you are concerned about, but it does not end there. Your own features and your own goals shape the rest of the decision.
Radiesse works well in areas other injectables often cannot reach as effectively, like cheeks that have grown flat or hollow. It works with your skin's own processes, stimulating new collagen growth, and in many cases the results last as long as a year.
Juvéderm smooths facial folds and wrinkles by restoring lost volume, and it is often used to bring back fullness to lips that have thinned with age. It is a dermal filler made from a smooth, water-soluble substance already found, to some degree, within your own skin.
Botox is the best known of the muscle-relaxing treatments, and one of the most widely used, especially for forehead lines and the furrow between the brows. Each injection takes about 10 minutes, results appear within 24 to 48 hours, and they typically last four to six months. Many people, though, find Dysport suits them better.
Botox has a long track record, but that does not mean it should be treated casually. An MD is not required to perform each injection, yet it still makes sense to choose a practice where your consultation is guided by board-certified plastic surgeons.
Making the Choice That’s Right for You
What makes the difference is finding a board-certified plastic surgeon with the experience and the perspective to walk through these choices with you, so you can settle on the one that is right for you.
You should expect to feel comfortable and confident from your very first conversation about injectables.
It would be a privilege to have that talk with you.
